Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN), which rose 4.91% or 1.46 points to trade at 31.09 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 4.36% or 0.189 points to end at 4.520 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) was up 1.22% or 0.173 points to 14.393 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 1.57% or 0.27 points to trade at 16.90 in late trade. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) declined 1.40% or 0.15 points to end at 10.54 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) shed 0.98% or 0.43 points to 43.24.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 100 to 59 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.54% to 33.86.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.68% or 0.33 to $48.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.28% or 0.64 to hit $49.19 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.08% or 1.05 to trade at $1287.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.1240, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.7933.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 94.84.
