Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 2.42% or 0.47 points to trade at 19.64 at the close. Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) added 1.98% or 0.62 points to end at 31.93 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) was up 1.52% or 0.075 points to 5.015 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which lost 2.02% or 0.056 points to trade at 2.712 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.95% or 1.200 points to end at 60.280 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) shed 1.81% or 0.51 points to 27.37.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 75 to 50 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.53% to 15.15.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.35% or 0.71 to $53.46 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.83% or 0.46 to hit $55.69 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.22% or 2.65 to trade at $1212.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.0758, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8586.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 100.03.
