Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 7.66% or 0.69 points to trade at 9.70 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 3.49% or 2.720 points to end at 80.600 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 2.62% or 0.735 points to 28.760 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN), which lost 1.24% or 0.036 points to trade at 2.871 in late trade. Relx NV (AS:RELN) declined 0.87% or 0.165 points to end at 18.885 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 0.18% or 0.09 points to 49.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 77 to 44 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 10.86% to 10.68.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.74% or 1.05 to $61.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.56% or 1.04 to hit $67.61 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.17% or 2.30 to trade at $1318.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.2027, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.8893.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 91.80.
