Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which rose 3.24% or 0.48 points to trade at 15.28 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.79% or 0.605 points to end at 22.285 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 1.41% or 0.27 points to 19.12 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA), which lost 1.49% or 0.54 points to trade at 35.78 in late trade. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) declined 0.25% or 0.19 points to end at 76.98 and Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV (AS:BOSN) shed 0.15% or 0.04 points to 27.39.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 90 to 29 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 6.37% to 13.44.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.02% or 0.01 to $46.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.75% or 0.39 to hit $51.27 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 3.58 to trade at $1315.32 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1925, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.9217.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 92.62.
