Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 2.20% or 0.07 points to trade at 3.06 at the close. ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL) added 2.16% or 0.78 points to end at 36.88 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) was up 1.93% or 0.565 points to 29.850 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aalberts Industries NV (AS:AALB), which lost 0.61% or 0.26 points to trade at 42.24 in late trade. Heineken (AS:HEIN) declined 0.51% or 0.44 points to end at 86.54 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) shed 0.40% or 0.110 points to 27.610.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 76 to 47 and 16 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 7.86% to 14.90.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 2.32% or 1.55 to $68.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 2.68% or 2.02 to hit $77.51 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.12% or 1.60 to trade at $1300.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.04% to 1.1656, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.8779.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.77% at 94.08.
