Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN), which rose 4.38% or 0.109 points to trade at 2.599 at the close. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) added 2.15% or 0.86 points to end at 40.92 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) was up 1.84% or 3.55 points to 196.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 12.20% or 3.67 points to trade at 26.38 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.60% or 1.220 points to end at 74.880 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) shed 0.53% or 0.155 points to 28.940.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 63 to 50 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 7.29% to 12.14.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.03% or 0.02 to $68.03 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.61% or 0.45 to hit $74.45 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.33% or 4.40 to trade at $1318.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.37% to 1.2116, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8700.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 91.29.
