Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL), which rose 2.44% or 0.94 points to trade at 39.44 at the close. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) added 1.14% or 0.27 points to end at 23.94 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 1.14% or 0.92 points to 81.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Randstad NV (AS:RAND), which lost 0.73% or 0.40 points to trade at 54.42 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 0.53% or 0.480 points to end at 89.260 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) shed 0.38% or 0.020 points to 5.194.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 62 to 59 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.21% to 11.36.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.02% or 0.70 to $69.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.01% or 0.77 to hit $77.06 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.25% or 3.00 to trade at $1211.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.1699, while EUR/GBP fell 0.89% to 0.9005.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.56.
