Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 3.64% or 0.362 points to trade at 10.294 at the close. Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) added 2.67% or 0.116 points to end at 4.466 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 2.40% or 2.160 points to 92.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heineken (AS:HEIN), which lost 1.78% or 1.36 points to trade at 75.12 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 1.76% or 0.03 points to end at 1.70 and Unilever NV DRC (AS:UNc) shed 1.32% or 0.61 points to 46.03.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 57 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 7.08% to 15.79 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.59% or 0.31 to $51.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $60.67 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.47% or 6.05 to trade at $1294.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1402, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8873.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 95.672.
