Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.25% or 3.060 points to trade at 97.200 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.90% or 0.790 points to end at 28.020 and Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) was up 1.94% or 0.81 points to 42.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which lost 3.38% or 0.735 points to trade at 20.990 in late trade. Heineken (AS:HEIN) declined 0.50% or 0.44 points to end at 88.20 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) shed 0.19% or 0.035 points to 18.795.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 77 to 55 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 6.70% to 10.96.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.30% or 0.21 to $69.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.95% or 0.70 to hit $74.45 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.20% or 2.40 to trade at $1220.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1593, while EUR/GBP rose 0.29% to 0.8951.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 94.99.
