Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Healthcare and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.72% or 4.240 points to trade at 94.140 at the close. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) added 1.04% or 0.43 points to end at 41.70 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 0.97% or 0.02 points to 2.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which lost 1.84% or 0.510 points to trade at 27.230 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 1.46% or 0.188 points to end at 12.672 and Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) shed 0.58% or 0.14 points to 23.99.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 59 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.51% to 11.74.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.56% or 1.07 to $69.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.16% or 0.85 to hit $74.06 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.47% or 5.70 to trade at $1217.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1558, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8933.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 95.18.
