Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.01% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 2.43% or 0.81 points to trade at 34.21 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) added 1.45% or 0.400 points to end at 27.915 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 0.79% or 0.670 points to 85.370 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which lost 13.79% or 2.15 points to trade at 13.40 in late trade. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) declined 6.06% or 2.23 points to end at 34.50 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) shed 3.16% or 0.40 points to 12.12.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 76 to 52 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.63% to 10.65.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 2.61% or 1.45 to $57.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 2.93% or 1.82 to hit $63.89 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.07% or 13.62 to trade at $1282.82 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1606, while EUR/GBP fell 0.57% to 0.8826.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 94.69.
