Musgrave Minerals Ltd (ASX:MGV, OTC:MGVMF) welcomes further strong assay results from reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Big Sky deposit southwest of Lena and Break of Day, on 100%-owned ground at the flagship Cue Gold Project in Western Australia’s Murchison district.
Regional map of drill hole collars and significant prospect locations at the project.
The results come from a combination of infill and extensional drilling and highlight the near-surface nature of the gold mineralisation along the Big Sky deposit.
Near-surface gold
This recent drilling – 54 holes for 2,708 metres – confirms near-surface gold endowment along the Big Sky trend, with the majority of infill holes in select areas recording assay values above the resource grade.
Additional mineralisation was also identified outside the current mineral resource boundary, which has not yet been included in the resource estimate.
These results will continue to de-risk the open cut potential of the deposit.
Extensional and infill results

Extensional drilling hit mineralisation outside the current mineral resource boundary, including:
- 15 metres at 3.3 g/t gold from 28 metres, including 4 metres at 7.6 g/t from 32 metres;
- 11 metres at 3.0 g/t from 3 metres, including 4 metres at 6.9 g/t from 3 metres;
- 2 metres at 4.9 g/t from 12 metres; and
- 1-metre at 11.2 g/t from 68 metres.
- 5 metres at 13.2 g/t from 53 metres;
- 8 metres at 5.9 g/t from 22 metres;
- 4 metres at 9.5 g/t from 31 metres; and
- 16 metres at 2.1 g/t gold from 20 metres, including 2 metres at 7.1 g/t from 30 metres.
Above current resource grade
These are the final assay results from the current phase of a drilling program aimed at infilling and upgrading key sections of the Big Sky deposit, with the focus now on conversion from inferred to indicated resource categorisation to align with future resource updates.
Managing director Rob Waugh said: “The latest assay results from infill and extensional resource drilling at Big Sky continue to improve the confidence in the continuity of the deposit.
“Both infill and extensional holes were successful. Within the strongly mineralised zones the majority of these new drill holes host mineralised intervals above the current mineral resource grade of the deposit.
“This drilling has focused on the top 80 metres of select zones at Big Sky with the aim to convert a significant portion of the near-surface mineralisation to the greater confidence indicated resource category aligned with our next mineral resource update scheduled for Q2 2023.”
What’s next for Musgrave
The company is conducting diamond drilling for geotechnical analysis to better define pit wall stability at Break of Day, White Heat and Big Sky.
It has also kicked off follow-up RC drilling at the Waratah, Amarillo and East Numbers targets.
Metallurgical test-work on the Big Sky and White Heat-Mosaic deposits is now underway, with preliminary gold recovery data expected in December.
Finally, stage 1 PFS activities for the Cue Gold Project are continuing on schedule, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2023.
