Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI), which rose 0.64% or 0.65 points to trade at 102.80 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) added 0.51% or 0.65 points to end at 128.50 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 0.26% or 0.09 points to 32.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 2.93% or 2.130 points to trade at 70.660 in late trade. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) declined 2.34% or 1.08 points to end at 45.34 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) shed 1.68% or 0.53 points to 30.95.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 59 to 52 and 19 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.07% or 0.86 to $1245.84 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.61% or 1.16 to hit $43.27 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.34% or 1.10 to trade at $45.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.23% to 1.1123, while EUR/GBP rose 0.73% to 0.8815.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 97.48.
