Meeka Metals Ltd (ASX:MEK) has intersected high-grade and visible gold mineralisation during a reverse circulation (RC) program at St Anne’s Prospect within the Murchison Gold Project in Western Australia.
The deepest RC hole (22SARC005) intersected the strongest gold mineralisation with a visible gold hit of 4 metres at 87.50 g/t from 172 metres.
Importantly, 22SARC005 intersected the high-grade lode in fresh rock about 100 metres below the oxide results released in August 2022 that included:
- 32 metres at 16.07 g/t gold from 48 metres, including 16 metres at 28.59 g/t; and
- 20 metres at 20.74 g/t from 48 metres, including 16 metres at 24.86g/t.
Other results included 8 metres at 1.22 g/t from 124 metres in 22SARC001 and 4 metres at 1.54 g/t from 128 metres in 22SARC003.
Moving forward, diamond drilling is progressing well with five holes completed to date, all intersecting the target shear zone, with the core now being processed and the first assays expected in late December this year.
Points to tenor of this system.
Meeka managing director Tim Davidson said: “The intersection of high-grade gold in fresh rock below the oxide horizon points to the tenor of this system.
“In addition to these RC results, all five diamond drill holes completed to date have intersected the shear zone with intervals of sulphides and quartz marking the lode position.
“This diamond drilling remains ongoing with step-out holes currently being drilled below and to the south of the hole 22SARC005.
“Core processing is underway with first assay results expected in December 2022.”
Drill summary
The five RC drill holes intersected the shear zone, exposing the pinch and swell nature of the lode with varying widths of mineralisation evident.
Holes 22SARC002 and 22SARC004 intersected the target zone above 22SARC005 where evidence of shearing was present.
However, minimal sulphides and quartz were evident, indicating the lode had pinched out in the location of these drill holes.
Gold is predominantly hosted by a mafic unit within a broad, sub-vertical north-south trending shear zone on the contact with felsic volcaniclastics.
Assays are pending for a further 71 aircore holes across 7,861 metres of drilling from St Anne’s.

About Murchison
Meeka’s flagship Murchison Gold Project has a combined 343 square kilometre landholding in the prolific Murchison Gold Fields and hosts a large high-grade 1.1 million ounce JORC resource.
The company is actively growing these resources while also progressing toward production.
The release of the Murchison Gold Project scoping study in December has outlined a robust project that is set to produce more than 420,000 ounces of gold.
