Meeka Metals Ltd (ASX:MEK) continues to expand the St Anne’s prospect, part of the 100%-owned Murchison Gold Project in WA, with a new lode – the Wood lode – just discovered.
Shallow drilling at what is now the Wood lode has intersected strong oxide gold mineralisation on a previously untested contact with results including:
- 16 metres at 3.48 g/t gold from 48 metres including 8 metres at 6.17 g/t;
- 12 metres at 2.48 g/t from 76 metres including 8 metres at 3.55 g/t;
- 12 metres at 1.38 g/t from 88 metres including 4 metres at 2.27 g/t;
- 8 metres at 1.38 g/t from 36 metres;
- 12 metres at 1.13 g/t from 80 metres; and
- 20 metres at 0.57 g/t from 24 metres.
The Wood lode is around 100 metres east of Driver lode, where drilling began July 2022 and has returned substantial high-grade gold results, including:
- 32 metres at 16.07 g/t gold from 48 metres including 16 metres at 28.59 g/t;
- 20 metres at 20.74 g/t from 48 metres including 16 metres at 24.86 g/t; and
- 24 metres at 4.73 g/t from 52 metres including 8 metres at 11.78 g/t.
New lode struck
St Anne’s is hosted by a sequence of felsic volcaniclastics, mafic and sedimentary rocks.
Until now, exploration has focused on the western side of the mafic unit, the contact between the mafic and felsic volcaniclastics, within a broad, sub-vertical north-south trending shear zone.

The new Wood lode is roughly 100 metres east of the Driver lode, on the contact between the mafic and sedimentary units, and dips shallowly to the east. It remains open to the north, south and at depth.
Assays are pending for a further 25 shallow strike extension holes and drilling continues. Assays are also pending for a further 43 shallow strike extension holes from the Driver lode.
Diamond drilling also continues to progress well, with six holes completed, all intersecting the target shear zone, and first assays expected in late December.
Expanded footprint
Meeka managing director Tim Davidson said: “The ongoing shallow drilling at St Anne’s continues to expand the footprint of high-grade oxide mineralisation within this large gold system.
“The Wood lode is the first of a number of targets to be tested outside of the Driver and Iron lodes, which sit on the western mafic contact at St Anne’s and where we have been drilling since June 2022.
“This positive early result from the first target in our broader, but disciplined, target testing program highlights the growth opportunity available at our Murchison Gold Project.
“Reinforcing this is the success the team is having with deeper RC drilling at St Anne’s, which intersected high-grade and visible gold in fresh rock below the oxide horizon, and diamond drilling, which has intersected the shear zone with intervals of sulphides and quartz marking the lode position.
"Core processing is underway with first assay results from the diamond holes expected in December 2022.”
