Oct 29 (Reuters) - Australian rare earths miner Lynas Corp LYC.AX said on Monday it has been granted an extension to its temporary permit to store residue at its Malaysian site.
Lynas' Malaysian operations have been under scrutiny by the country's new government over concerns that its six-year-old plant that processes rare earths used in industrial magnets is harmful to the environment. this month, the Malaysian minister in charge of a committee reviewing Lynas' plant offered to step down following company criticism that she would not be impartial.
