Legend Mining Ltd (ASX:LEG) has kicked off a diamond drilling campaign for a closer look at the high-priority Octagonal nickel-copper sulphide prospects within its Rockford Project in Western Australia’s Fraser Range.
Drilling has commenced at Target (NYSE:TGT) Area B, to be followed by Target Area A, with each diamond hole taking up to four weeks to complete.
Legend plans to drill both targets to a depth of between 1,000 metres and 1,500 metres.
Priority target areas and proposed diamond drill holes.
“Exciting” drill targets
“Both these target areas have multiple data sets supporting the potential for significant nickel-copper sulphide accumulations,” Legend executive chair Mark Wilson said.
“They both qualify as the most exciting diamond drill targets the team has seen at our Rockford project since Legend started in the Fraser Range in 2015."
Seismic interpretations
Drilling at Target Area B will test a feature interpreted as intrusion and associated with a conductive audio-magnetotelluric (AMT) feature at depth.
Meanwhile, Target Area A will test for extensions of the Octagonal intrusion as well as a highly-chargeable IP anomaly before continuing to test the top of a large AMT conductor.
Both drill targets were refined using seismic data.
Legend will run downhole geophysics on all completed diamond drill holes, including electromagnetics (EM) and petrophysical property measurements to aid in the direct targeting of economic sulphide accumulations as well as to refine the existing seismic cube.
