Leeuwin Metals Ltd (ASX:LM1) has welcomed results from the latest set of assays generated at the Jenpeg Lithium Project in Canada, with all four assayed holes returning shallow, broad high-grade lithium intersections.
Returning up to 5.14 metres at 1.75% lithium from 20.77 metres and 14.18 metres at 1.66% lithium from 53 metres of depth, these latest results have confirmed the presence of high-grade lithium at Jenpeg in the form of a pegmatite swarm.
Although the results from three holes are still pending, LM1 has now defined lithium over a 400-metre strike within a 6-kilometre-long prospective corridor, previously defined by channel sampling work.
Compelling exploration opportunities
“Today’s results confirm the emergence of the Jenpeg lithium discovery in Manitoba,” Leeuwin Metals managing director Christopher Piggott said.
“The assays display significant widths of high-grade lithium mineralisation, highlighting the underexplored nature of this large-scale mineralised system.
“We firmly believe in the compelling opportunities at both prospect and regional scales, offering Leeuwin shareholders the opportunity to be part of one of Canada’s next major lithium discoveries.
“We also extend our gratitude to the Government of Manitoba for their proactive approach and support in encouraging investment in critical minerals exploration, which enabled Leeuwin’s historical core sampling.
“We look forward to regularly keeping the market up to date as we receive results from pending lithium and nickel assays.”
Field program
Leeuwin has planned a field program for late in the third quarter this year to further define drilling targets at Jenpeg, which will involve mapping, multispectral satellite image analysis and geochemical sampling.
The company is the single largest landholder in the prospective Cross Lake Greenstone Belt, with a land position of more than 1,900 square kilometres.
