Latin Resources Ltd (ASX:LRS) is on track to deliver a maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE), having received the final assays from a round of resource definition drilling at the cornerstone Colina prospect of the Salinas Lithium Project in Brazil.
The results were well worth the wait, grading high with mineralisation continuing at depth and along strike:
- 10.91 metres at 1.52% lithium from 92.31 metres, including 5.00 metres at 2.01% lithium from 93 metres;
- 8.19 metres at 1.61% lithium from 129.76 metres, including 4.00 metres at 2.21% lithium from 133.00 metres;
- 25.00 metres at 1.47% lithium from 245.00 metres, including 10.00 metres at 1.78% lithium from 255.00 metres;
- 7.41 metres at 1.61% lithium from 148.21 metres, including 2.62 metres at 2.37% lithium from 153.00 metres;
- 8.70 metres at 2.16% lithium from 302.30 metres, including 5.70 metres at 2.66% lithium from 302.30 metres; and,
- 10.23 metres at 1.59% lithium from 68.43 metres, including 5.80 metres at 1.82% lithium from 69.20 metres.
“The company’s maiden JORC mineral resource estimate is on track to be delivered in December after incorporating these final results, which continue to showcase the consistent nature of the pegmatite mineralisation at Colina,” Latin Resources exploration manager Tony Greenaway said.
“With the MRE drilling completed at Colina, the rigs can shift their focus to the recently discovered Colina West pegmatites with the aim of incorporating this second area into the Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) and other studies that the company has underway.”

Latin Resources’ ongoing studies include a series of metallurgical programs, having already demonstrated a high recovery of 78.72% lithium into a concentrate grading 6.57% lithium in first-pass sighter test-work.
More sighter test-work is underway, with additional samples being dispatched to the laboratory to explore optimal crush size, additional heavy liquid separation (HLS) cut points and fine fraction flotation, all in service of optimising the larger test work flowsheet for the PEA.
