Lanthanein Resources Ltd (ASX:LNR)'s maiden drill campaign at the Lyons rare earths project, which started this week, is partially complete.
The first phase of the program consisted of holes that were reasonably accessible by a wheel mounted reverse circulation (RC) rig, which was available for an expedited start after initial weather-related delays.
Drilling to resume soon
The company has now secured a track-mounted rig to complete the remainder of the program, and this work is expected to kick off in roughly 10 days.
Some 13 holes out of the planned 30-hole program have been drilled for 1,068 metres at the Lyons 11 prospect.
The short break in proceedings will allow the company’s technical and geological consultants the opportunity to complete drill chip logging and XRF scans of the samples before shipping to the assay lab.
This will allow for potential early follow-up of any drill holes of interest when drilling recommences.
Significant REE endowment
The company continues to be encouraged by the ongoing exploration success of Dreadnought at the Yin Project and the new Sabre discovery which demonstrates the significant REE potential of the ironstones in the Gifford Creek Ferrocarbonatite Complex.
Ironstones are analogous to Hastings Technology Metals’ Yangibana rare earth deposits and Dreadnought Resources’ Yin and Sabre discoveries adjacent to Lanthanein’s Lyons Projects, 2.5km and 32km away respectively.
The significant endowment of rare earth minerals in the Gascoyne is now being more fully recognised by the broader market.
The surge in modern exploration in the region has highlighted the potential for more rare earth discoveries such as Yin and Sabre plus further Lyons REE bearing ironstone discoveries.
There will no doubt be more news when the company restarts drilling in around 10 days.
