Lanthanein Resources Ltd (ASX:LNR, OTC:FRNRF) has identified a significant lithium soil anomaly at its Lady Grey Lithium Project, adjacent to Covalent Lithium's Earl Grey Mine at Mount Holland.

The find emerged following a comprehensive soil sampling program that covered the extent of the tenement.

As a result, LNR shares are 66.67% higher on the ASX to A$0.005.

Four-kilometre strike

The survey identified a large lithium anomaly with a strike of some 4 kilometres, with peak results of 454 parts per million (ppm) Li2O.

This anomaly has a similar spatial relationship to potential lithium source granite observed at the Godzilla Prospect, which points to the project’s geological promise.

In total, 527 of the 1,893 soil samples collected showed lithium concentrations exceeding 150ppm Li2O.

The survey also delineated strong correlations between lithium and caesium anomalism, which supports the presence of lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) type pegmatite potential, a key indicator for lithium mineralisation.

Identified anomalies, particularly Godzilla and Avenger, are marked by coincident lithium and caesium readings over areas of 4.3 square kilometres and 0.58 square kilometres respectively.

This soil sampling program, carried out with a grid spacing of 400 metres by 100 metres, employed the UltraFine+ analysis method at LabWest Minerals Analysis Pty Ltd.

This technique, which analyses the ultrafine fraction of less than 2µm for 53 elements, has proven effective in enhancing geochemical signals and improving the detection of mineralisation under cover.

The newly identified anomalies represent highly prospective drill targets and align with Lanthanein's strategic goals for the region.

Plans to refine targets

The company plans to extend and infill the current soil surveys alongside heritage surveys and preparatory drilling activities to further refine the targets.

Technical director Brian Thomas said: “The discovery of such a large coherent lithium geochemical anomaly at the new Godzilla prospect leads us to believe that we may be in the early stages of a large lithium discovery.

“The geological rationale points to lithium-rich fluids migrating eastward into the ‘goldilocks’ zone around 2.5 to 3 kilometres east of the respective source granite dome.

“Our view is the northern granite is responsible for the hydrothermal lithium mineralising event that deposited Earl Grey’s 189 million tonnes mine, and we are seeing the geochemical fingerprints of another large lithium mineralising event associated with the southern granite.

“The southern granite located in the middle western boundary of our tenement displays lithium anomalism extruding out all the way from the granite contact edge - east to our eastern tenement boundary and includes the sweet spot of 2.7 kilometres from source granite where our highest geochemical anomalism was recorded, like Earl Grey.

“We will now accelerate our work programs and approvals processes to be drilling these targets mid-year.”
