Volkswagen (ETR:VOWG_p) Group (XETRA:VOW)’s supercar subsidiary Lamborghini has announced the world’s first 12-cylinder hybrid super sports car, the Lamborghini Revuelto High-Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV).
Endgadget calls it “a Lamborghini through and through”, with the 814 horsepower, 12-cylinder engine chugging along at a blistering 9,250 rpm.
It comes with 13 drive modes, and all-wheel drive is also available in the fully-electric mode for “the absolute driving experience”.
But the Lambo’s all-electric mode comes with a caveat- a full charge of the 3.8 kWh battery will take you just over six miles- enough for a whip around town maybe, but a carbon-conscious tour de Italy is certainly out of the question.
However, official documentation suggests that the battery can be fully recharged in as little as six minutes via regenerative braking from the front wheels or directly from the V12 engine.
For anyone with a spare half a million dollars to burn, you might need to take out a small loan- the Lamborghini Revuelto ships later this year for $542,000.
Lamborghini is aiming to release a fully electric supercar by 2030.
