Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Travel & Leisure and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB rose 2.27%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Mediaset (MILAN:MS), which rose 4.10% or 0.188 points to trade at 4.778 at the close. Meanwhile, Mediobanca (MILAN:MDBI) added 3.80% or 0.350 points to end at 9.550 and UBI Banca (MILAN:UBI) was up 3.76% or 0.275 points to 7.595 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics (MILAN:STM), which fell 0.50% or 0.035 points to trade at 6.955 at the close. Pirelli & C (MILAN:PECI) declined 0.13% or 0.02 points to end at 14.98 and Ansaldo STS (MILAN:STS) was down 0.05% or 0.01 points to 9.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 323 to 125 and 5 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.52% or 0.72 to $48.11 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.33% or 0.17 to hit $53.65 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.20 to trade at $1094.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1052, while EUR/GBP fell 0.66% to 0.7079.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 96.79.
