Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Travel & Leisure and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB gained 3.51%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MILAN:BMPS), which rose 5.78% or 0.0870 points to trade at 1.5920 at the close. Meanwhile, UBI Banca (MILAN:UBI) added 5.67% or 0.385 points to end at 7.175 and Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MILAN:PMII) was up 4.80% or 0.0425 points to 0.9275 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which fell 2.34% or 0.20 points to trade at 8.56 at the close. Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) declined 0.43% or 0.05 points to end at 11.54 and Pirelli & C (MILAN:PECI) was up 0.13% or 0.02 points to 15.07.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 381 to 76 and 3 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 2.67% or 1.38 to $53.03 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 3.44% or 1.97 to hit $59.02 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.32% or 3.70 to trade at $1159.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 1.1014, while EUR/GBP fell 0.60% to 0.7168.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 96.79.
