Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Telecoms and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB gained 2.64%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Enel Green Power (MILAN:EGPW), which rose 5.84% or 0.098 points to trade at 1.777 at the close. Meanwhile, Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MILAN:BMPS) added 5.76% or 0.0820 points to end at 1.5050 and Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MILAN:EMII) was up 5.67% or 0.400 points to 7.450 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tod'S (MILAN:TOD), which fell 3.71% or 3.00 points to trade at 77.95 at the close. Salvatore Ferragamo (MILAN:SFER) declined 1.97% or 0.49 points to end at 24.43 and Atlantia (MILAN:ATL) was down 0.33% or 0.07 points to 21.01.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 294 to 163 and 5 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.80% or 0.94 to $51.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.59% or 0.34 to hit $56.52 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.70% or 8.10 to trade at $1160.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.44% to 1.1062, while EUR/GBP rose 1.27% to 0.7212.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.40% at 96.50.
