Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Financials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 1.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Leonardo Finmeccanica SpA (MI:LDOF), which rose 2.73% or 0.265 points to trade at 9.965 at the close. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) added 0.10% or 0.0003 points to end at 0.2900 and Prysmian (MI:PRY) was up 0.10% or 0.02 points to 20.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MI:SPMI), which lost 9.78% or 0.0430 points to trade at 0.3966 in late trade. Azimut Holding (MI:AZMT) declined 9.38% or 1.48 points to end at 14.30 and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MI:FCHA) shed 8.05% or 0.5000 points to 5.7100.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 275 to 114 and 24 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.88% or 0.79 to $41.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.55% or 0.68 to hit $43.23 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.48% or 6.45 to trade at $1340.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1082, while EUR/GBP rose 0.80% to 0.8430.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 96.60.
