Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which rose 4.03% or 0.0245 points to trade at 0.6330 at the close. Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT) added 2.96% or 0.0250 points to end at 0.8710 and Mediaset (MI:MS) was up 2.55% or 0.096 points to 3.868 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Azimut Holding (MI:AZMT), which lost 5.44% or 1.14 points to trade at 19.83 in late trade. Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO) declined 4.89% or 0.2700 points to end at 5.2500 and UBI Banca (MI:UBI) shed 4.12% or 0.1400 points to 3.2580.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 219 to 170 and 27 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.26% or 0.99 to $44.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.61% or 0.72 to hit $45.34 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.22% or 2.85 to trade at $1277.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.71% to 1.1404, while EUR/GBP fell 0.62% to 0.7875.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 93.75.
