Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 1.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Snam (MI:SRG), which rose 1.13% or 0.060 points to trade at 5.360 at the close. Terna (MI:TRN) added 1.01% or 0.050 points to end at 5.010 and Enel Green Power (MI:EGPW) was up 0.85% or 0.016 points to 1.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MI:SPMI), which lost 5.53% or 0.0204 points to trade at 0.3483 in late trade. Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) declined 5.35% or 0.0380 points to end at 0.6725 and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) shed 5.20% or 0.0310 points to 0.5650.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 304 to 110 and 12 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.85% or 0.34 to $39.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.42% or 0.17 to hit $40.30 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.50 to trade at $1221.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1176, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.7885.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 96.13.
