Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Financials and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 1.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Mediolanum SpA (MI:BMED), which rose 3.58% or 0.220 points to trade at 6.365 at the close. Leonardo SpA (MI:LDOF) added 2.00% or 0.205 points to end at 10.455 and FinecoBank Banca Fineco SpA (MI:FBK) was up 1.89% or 0.19 points to 10.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intesa Sanpaolo (MI:ISP), which lost 4.52% or 0.119 points to trade at 2.515 in late trade. Enel (MI:ENEI) declined 4.03% or 0.192 points to end at 4.578 and Banco Bpm (MI:BAMI) shed 2.43% or 0.066 points to 2.654.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 227 to 125 and 31 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.03% or 0.71 to $68.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.74% or 1.29 to hit $72.92 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.61% or 7.50 to trade at $1216.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1671, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.8893.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 94.44.
