Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Campari (MI:CPRI), which rose 2.94% or 0.25 points to trade at 8.77 at the close. Salvatore Ferragamo (MI:SFER) added 2.37% or 0.46 points to end at 19.84 and Banca Mediolanum SpA (MI:BMED) was up 2.31% or 0.165 points to 7.315 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO), which lost 8.75% or 0.4790 points to trade at 4.9960 in late trade. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) declined 7.56% or 0.0490 points to end at 0.5990 and Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) shed 7.04% or 0.0415 points to 0.5480.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 248 to 144 and 24 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 2.58% or 1.15 to $43.51 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 3.53% or 1.60 to hit $43.77 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 2.15% or 27.85 to trade at $1266.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1398, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.7913.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 94.07.
