Highlights

  • Australia’s IPO market has remained muted in 2022.
  • Rising interest rates and inflation and geopolitical tensions have negatively impacted market sentiment.
  • The first half of 2022 saw 59 new public offerings.

The initial public offering (IPO) market in Australia faced several challenges in the past few months amid the ongoing stock market volatility. Rising interest rates, inflation and geopolitical tensions have negatively impacted market sentiment, posing challenges in raising fresh capital.

The first half of 2022 saw 59 new public offerings, against 61 in the corresponding period last year. A fewer number of IPO listings are expected in the year’s second half compared to the corresponding period of 2021.

“At this stage, it seems unlikely that the IPO market in 2022 will come anywhere near the amounts raised, or number of listings, that we saw last year,” said Marcus Ohm, author of the HLB Mann Judd IPO Watch Australia mid-year report.

Here we look at two IPOs which are set for ASX listing in the first week of September (as of 25 August 2022).

Aeramentum Resources Ltd (ASX:AEN)

Aeramentum Resources is focused on exploration of metals such as gold, nickel, copper, and cobalt. Aeramentum seeks to explore and develop projects of mineral resources in Europe.

Aeramentum Resources’ IPO is set to be listed on 1 September 2022. Aeramentum Resources earlier raised AU$7 million at an issue price of AU$0.20 per share. The IPO’s lead manager is Novus Capital Ltd.

Terra Uranium Ltd (ASX:T92)

Terra Uranium is focused on mineral exploration. The company plans to play a key role in a clean carbon-free economy by working on the uranium potential of Canada’s Athabasca Basin.

Terra Uranium’s IPO would be listed on 7 September at 11 AM (AEST). Earlier, Terra Uranium had raised AU$7.5 million at an issue price of AU$0.20. The company’s lead manager is Peak Asset Management Pty Ltd.
