Ionic Rare Earths Ltd (ASX:IXR, OTC:IXRRF) has strengthened its global supply chain engagement with several key appointments to drive strategic markets in Europe and the UK.

The company has appointed highly experienced UK-based executive Lee Constable as its vice president – EU & UK, to drive supply chain stakeholder engagement and interface with government bodies across Europe and the UK.

Meanwhile, its subsidiary IonicTech has appointed operations leader Thomas Kelly as general manager – operations to advance the development of the magnet recycling demonstration plant and technical centre established in Belfast, UK.

In order to further support the development of the demonstration plant, IonicTech has also appointed Neruja Srikantharajah as its engineering manager.

Looking ahead, the magnet recycling demonstration plant is on track to produce recycled magnet rare earths oxides (REO) by mid-2023.

Complementing US downstream focus

IonicRE managing director Tim Harrison said: “We are delighted to add strong capability to the IonicRE and IonicTech team to help the company progress our corporate ambitions.

“The new appointments will help the company to build upon the great foundation established over the past few years for greater engagement with key potential supply chain stakeholders across Europe and the UK, complementing our US downstream focus.

“The magnet recycling demonstration plant, located at our facility in Belfast is on track and adding more technical expertise and leadership to the overall program will greatly enhance the existing team as we look towards producing recycled magnet REOs by the middle of 2023.”

Notable experience

Constable brings 25 years of corporate experience with senior roles in the manufacturing and process-related industries (chemicals, plastics and building) for global organisations.

He has a master of engineering in material science and engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.

In Belfast, Kelly has a proven track record in high-purity products, project delivery, operational improvement and process engineering across a 13-year career in operations management and technical roles in the process, chemical, power and water industries with global organisations.

Meanwhile, Srikantharajah has more than 10 years of experience in process engineering design and systems across the nuclear and defence industries with Rolls Royce (LON:RR) Civil Nuclear and Sellafield in the UK.
