Intra Energy identifies 108 new pegmatite targets at Llama Lithium Project in Canada

In preparation for its maiden ground campaign, Intra Energy Corporation Ltd (ASX:IEC) has identified 108 new outcropping pegmatite targets for further exploration at the recently acquired Llama Lithium Project within the lithium-rich James Bay region of Québec, Canada.

Following a comprehensive desktop study including a review of historical data and detailed analysis of high-resolution satellite imagery, the company's geological consulting partner, Dahrouge Geological Consulting (DGC), discovered a number of white patches indicative of pegmatite outcrops.

The comprehensive study undertaken by DGC in July aimed to build a database of significant potential lithium indicators and identify points of interest for subsequent fieldwork.

Moving forward, plans are underway for an upcoming airborne LiDAR mapping program, set to further prioritise targets ahead of comprehensive diamond drilling operations.

“Exciting starting point”

IEC managing director Benjamin Dunn said: “We are very excited to add a further 108 new pegmatite targets for further exploration at the Llama Lithium Project within just two weeks of completing the acquisition.

“This early work further justifies our faith in acquiring the project and although pegmatites do not necessarily indicate that there is lithium mineralisation, it does provide IEC with an exciting starting point to immediately focus on, as part of the comprehensive fieldwork campaign which is planned for completion by the end of the summer.”

Selected outcrop resulting from Satellite imagery ranked on certainty level with bedrock geological map

Results summary

Four large-scale outcropping potential pegmatite bodies were confirmed via analysis of the high-resolution satellite imagery:

  • Outcrop 5 – 500 metres in length and 150 metres in width;
  • Outcrop 45 – 400 metres in length and 200 metres in width;
  • Outcrop 50 – 400 metres in length and 180 metres in width; and
  • Outcrop 79 – 400 metres in length and 100 metres in width

Meanwhile, historical geochemical data suggest lithological composition similar to the Adina Lithium Project, situated 65 kilometres southwest of the property.

The identification of new targets adds significant exploration potential to the existing 12 outcropping pegmatite targets identified at Llama prior to the project acquisition.
