International Graphite Ltd (ASX:IG6) has increased the potential of the 15.6 million tonnes at 6% total graphitic carbon Springdale Graphite Project in Western Australia with the discovery of another high-grade graphite prospect, dubbed Springdale Far West.
Identified in reverse circulation (RC) drilling, the shallow discovery has been outlined over more than 700 metres and remains open in all directions. Standout results include:
- 7 metres at 13.3% total graphitic carbon (TGC) from 71 metres down hole, including 4 metres at 19.9% TGC from 73 metres down hole;
- 5 metres at 12.8% TGC from 45 metres downhole, including 2 metres at 25.0% TGC from 47 metres down hole; and
- 10 metres at 9.5% TGC from 36 metres downhole, including 2 metres at 15.0% TGC from 39 metres down hole.
The company has lauded the ‘excellent’ pathfinding ability of electromagnetic geophysical survey data, leveraged as it has been to target additional graphite close to the existing Springdale resource boundary.
Results highlight “substantial potential”
“These exploration results are exceptional and confirm the use of electromagnetic geophysical survey data to highlight the substantial graphite mineralisation potential across our Springdale tenements and the potential for significant resource growth at the project,” International Graphite founder and executive chair Phil Hearse said.
“We have intersected multiple shallow zones of high-grade mineralisation, which consistent with the existing resource, appears to be amenable to simple open pit mining.
“I am looking forward to receiving the pending drilling assays and am excited by the prospect of growing the resource inventory at the project to support a long-life mining operation feeding our proposed downstream processing facilities supplying battery anode materials and industrial products from Collie.”
International Graphite is planning to build a fully integrated mine-to-market graphite battery production stream with its Springdale Graphite Project in Western Australia, supported by the downstream processing facility in development at Collie.
