International Graphite Ltd (ASX:IG6) has once again demonstrated the high growth potential of the Springdale Graphite Project in Western Australia, unearthing more high-grade graphite in infill drilling designed to improve confidence in the existing 15.6 million tonnes inferred resource grading 6% total graphitic carbon (TGC).

This latest set of results has also provided further evidence of a number of high-grade domains within the broader graphite mineralised system, with assays of note including:

  • 15 metres at 13.4% TGC from 36 metres downhole, including 3 metres at 27.2% from 38 metres;
  • 11 metres at 16.1% TGC from 32 metres downhole, including 5 metres at 27.8% from 33 metres;
  • 8 metres at 12% TGC from 22 metres downhole, including 3 metres at 20.1% from 24 metres;
  • 32 metres at 5.9% TGC from 31 metres downhole, including 1-metre at 22.5% from 52 metres; and,
  • 19 metres at 4.7% TGC from 5 metres downhole.

The high-grade component of the Springdale inferred resource currently sits at 2.6 million tonnes at 17.5% TGC, with plenty of potential for more growth based on these results.

Important step in project development

“The success of our exploration and infill drilling program gives us great confidence that we will establish a long-life mineral resource at Springdale,” International Graphite executive chair Phil Hearse said.

“Drilling at Springdale continues to deliver outstanding graphite results and will assist in reclassification of the inferred mineral resources to indicated status.

“This is an important stage in the mine development cycle and a significant step in our vision to be self-sustaining and the first mine to market graphite producer wholly operating in Western Australia.”
