GTI Energy Ltd (ASX:GTR, OTC:GTRIF) has achieved landmark carbon-neutral certification, making it the first uranium company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) to do so.
The achievement through the Australian Government's Climate Active Program underscores GTI's commitment to sustainable practices, key to its ESG strategy.
Alongside this, GTI continues to make strides at its uranium projects, with the company securing drilling permits from the United States Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for drilling at the Lo Herma ISR Project.
With an inferred resource of 5.71 million pounds of U3O8, GTI aims to kick off drilling at the project in November with the intention of upgrading resources.
“Clean mining, clean energy and a clean future”
GTI Energy executive director Bruce Lane said: “GTI is focused on “clean mining, clean energy and a clean future”, so achieving carbon neutral certification is aligned with our objectives & values and is key to our ESG strategy.
“We believe strongly that nuclear power & uranium are critical to achieving an energy future with reduced carbon emissions.
"GTI has discovered uranium in Wyoming that is amenable to insitu recovery (ISR) mining.
“ISR is the cleanest and lowest impact form of uranium mining and through the development of our projects we aim to contribute to the clean energy transition.”
Drilling approved
Lo Herma is about 10 miles from Cameco’s Smith Ranch-Hyland, the largest ISR U3O8 production plant in the US, and around 60 miles from UEC’s Irigaray & Energy Fuels’ Reno Creek.
The BLM has approved and bonds have been confirmed for a 26-hole, around 15,000 feet, mud rotary drill program at the project.
The company has also finished processing magnetic and very low frequency electromagnetic (VLF) data collected from aerial surveys at Lo Herma, Green Mountain and Loki West.
The data will help to refine high-priority targets and could potentially identify new ones for future drilling.

Carbon-neutral certification
GTI has been certified carbon neutral under the Climate Active standard, covering its Australian headquarters and US field operations.
The certification process included quantifying the company's carbon footprint and investing in carbon offset projects.
This certification aligns with GTI's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and is part of its ongoing effort to meet stakeholder expectations concerning environmental management.
The company’s certification and upcoming drilling program position it as a frontrunner in both sustainable practices and resource exploration.
