Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Utilities and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 1.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr), which rose 4.29% or 0.0350 points to trade at 0.8500 at the close. Bank of Cyprus PCL (AT:BOCr) added 1.60% or 0.002 points to end at 0.127 and Elton S.A. (AT:ELNr) was up 1.12% or 0.010 points to 0.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which lost 9.94% or 0.017 points to trade at 0.154 in late trade. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) declined 9.88% or 0.0160 points to end at 0.1460 and Revoil Petrol (AT:REVr) shed 8.96% or 0.032 points to 0.325.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 75 to 22 and 14 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.69% or 8.05 to $1164.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.12% or 0.57 to hit $51.41 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.16 to trade at $54.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.70% to 1.0543, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.8386.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.56% at 101.68.
