Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Retail and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr), which rose 8.33% or 0.400 points to trade at 5.200 at the close. Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) added 6.77% or 0.1700 points to end at 2.6800 and Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) was up 6.67% or 0.0080 points to 0.1280 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Halcor (AT:XAKO), which lost 10.00% or 0.029 points to trade at 0.261 in late trade. Centric Hold (AT:DESr) declined 7.27% or 0.008 points to end at 0.106 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) shed 5.26% or 0.01 points to 0.18.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 52 to 32 and 19 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.44% or 5.95 to $1350.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.30% or 0.14 to hit $46.72 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.46 to trade at $49.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1277, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8668.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 94.79.
