Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Retail, Basic Resources and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite fell 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which rose 22.50% or 0.0270 points to trade at 0.1470 at the close. Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 7.69% or 0.010 points to end at 0.140 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) was up 7.22% or 0.007 points to 0.104 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which lost 9.92% or 0.013 points to trade at 0.118 in late trade. Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) declined 7.44% or 0.1800 points to end at 2.2400 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) shed 5.56% or 0.036 points to 0.611.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 50 to 40 and 15 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.89% or 12.15 to $1370.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.34% or 0.16 to hit $46.44 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.63% or 0.30 to trade at $47.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.1079, while EUR/GBP rose 1.00% to 0.8589.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.28.
