Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Telecoms and Food sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite lost 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr), which rose 4.11% or 0.011 points to trade at 0.266 at the close. Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) added 2.19% or 0.030 points to end at 1.400 and Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA (AT:MORr) was up 1.85% or 0.34 points to 18.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Viohalco SA (AT:VIOH), which lost 5.83% or 0.185 points to trade at 2.990 in late trade. Cenergy Holdings SA (AT:CENEr) declined 4.76% or 0.0580 points to end at 1.1600 and Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr) shed 4.57% or 0.080 points to 1.670.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 77 to 33 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.11% or 1.40 to $1303.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.63% or 1.07 to hit $64.45 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.76% or 0.57 to trade at $74.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1773, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8768.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 93.56.
