Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Retail and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 1.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr), which rose 6.43% or 0.016 points to trade at 0.265 at the close. Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 5.42% or 0.009 points to end at 0.175 and Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr) was up 5.00% or 0.002 points to 0.042 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr), which lost 2.44% or 0.1000 points to trade at 4.0000 in late trade. AS Company SA (AT:ASCr) declined 1.64% or 0.020 points to end at 1.200 and ThesKi Water (AT:TWSr) shed 1.03% or 0.040 points to 3.830.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 74 to 27 and 13 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.14% or 14.72 to $1274.38 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.34% or 0.17 to hit $49.45 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.07 to trade at $52.37 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.29% to 1.0866, while EUR/GBP rose 1.61% to 0.8505.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.72% at 98.94.
