Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Chemicals and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 1.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which rose 11.76% or 0.012 points to trade at 0.114 at the close. National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) added 11.11% or 0.02 points to end at 0.20 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was up 11.11% or 0.015 points to 0.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jumbo SA (AT:BABr), which lost 3.56% or 0.390 points to trade at 10.570 in late trade. Grivalia Properties REIC (AT:GRIr) declined 3.48% or 0.25 points to end at 6.94 and Iaso (AT:IASr) shed 2.89% or 0.012 points to 0.403.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 53 to 33 and 8 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.07% or 14.35 to $1355.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.92% or 0.38 to hit $41.52 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.24 to trade at $43.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.94% to 1.1181, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8415.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.29% at 95.44.
