Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Utilities and Travel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 1.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr), which rose 9.80% or 0.145 points to trade at 1.625 at the close. Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) added 8.98% or 0.2200 points to end at 2.6700 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 5.42% or 0.027 points to 0.525 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which lost 3.39% or 0.004 points to trade at 0.114 in late trade. Sarantiseg (AT:SRSr) declined 3.11% or 0.25 points to end at 7.80 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) shed 2.73% or 0.003 points to 0.107.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 45 to 41 and 17 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.40% or 5.45 to $1356.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.29% or 0.13 to hit $45.01 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.10 to trade at $46.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1044, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.8512.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 96.38.
