Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Oil & Gas and Household sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.14% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 15.12% or 0.1300 points to trade at 0.9900 at the close. Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) added 6.74% or 0.048 points to end at 0.760 and Fourlis Hld (AT:FRLr) was up 4.71% or 0.170 points to 3.780 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which lost 9.72% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.130 in late trade. Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) declined 5.56% or 0.1500 points to end at 2.5500 and Halcor (AT:XAKO) shed 4.53% or 0.016 points to 0.337.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 50 to 41 and 18 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.20% or 2.55 to $1253.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.10% or 0.56 to hit $50.23 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.47 to trade at $51.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.1008, while EUR/GBP fell 1.12% to 0.9016.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 97.99.
