Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Healthcare and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 2.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Viohalco SA (AT:VIOH), which rose 13.45% or 0.160 points to trade at 1.350 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 8.72% or 0.067 points to end at 0.835 and Halcor (AT:XAKO) was up 8.53% or 0.022 points to 0.280 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Euroconsultants SA (AT:ERCr), which lost 3.18% or 0.0500 points to trade at 1.5200 in late trade. Titan Cement Company SA (AT:TTNr) declined 2.34% or 0.480 points to end at 20.010 and Jumbo SA (AT:BABr) shed 1.75% or 0.200 points to 11.250.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 23 and 14 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.14% or 1.75 to $1276.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.10% or 0.92 to hit $44.70 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.77% or 0.79 to trade at $45.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.1395, while EUR/GBP fell 0.74% to 0.7865.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.57% at 93.80.
