Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Banking and Household sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr), which rose 11.46% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.389 at the close. Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) added 5.06% or 0.09 points to end at 1.87 and Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) was up 4.59% or 0.100 points to 2.280 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr), which lost 3.65% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.320 in late trade. Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) declined 3.38% or 0.05 points to end at 1.43 and Euroconsultants SA (AT:ERCr) shed 3.38% or 0.0500 points to 1.4300.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 62 to 33 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.51% or 6.55 to $1280.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.71% or 0.34 to hit $48.06 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.21 to trade at $49.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1334, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.7833.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 94.39.
