Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Construction and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.37% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Euroconsultants SA (AT:ERCr), which rose 9.46% or 0.1400 points to trade at 1.6200 at the close. Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) added 7.05% or 0.11 points to end at 1.67 and Titan Cement (AT:TTNr) was up 5.49% or 0.960 points to 18.460 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which lost 5.05% or 0.005 points to trade at 0.094 in late trade. A.S. Company (AT:ASCr) declined 4.43% or 0.014 points to end at 0.302 and Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) shed 4.43% or 0.007 points to 0.151.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 52 to 36 and 13 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.18% or 2.20 to $1256.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.14% or 0.06 to hit $42.53 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.20 to trade at $44.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1336, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.7873.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 94.19.
