Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Oil & Gas and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr), which rose 5.47% or 0.007 points to trade at 0.135 at the close. Mytilineos Holdings SA (AT:MYTr) added 3.61% or 0.300 points to end at 8.620 and Grivalia Properties REIC (AT:GRIr) was up 2.37% or 0.21 points to 9.07 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr), which lost 3.01% or 0.0400 points to trade at 1.2900 in late trade. Intracom Hold (AT:INRr) declined 2.58% or 0.017 points to end at 0.643 and Athens Water (AT:EYDr) shed 2.24% or 0.14 points to 6.11.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 55 to 44 and 18 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.26% or 15.88 to $1278.48 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.22% or 0.11 to hit $49.28 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.22 to trade at $52.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.1734, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.9032.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 93.56.
