Great Boulder Resources Ltd (ASX:GBR) is honing in on untested gold to the east of the Mulga Bill deposit in WA thanks to a recent aircore drilling program.
The precious metals explorer unearthed encouraging shallow gold up to 260 metres out from the 518,000-ounce Mulga Bill mineral resource, meaning there could be scope to extend the gold footprint.
Some of the best results include:
- 16 metres at 1.66 g/t gold from 52 metres, including 8 metres at 2.78 g/t from 56 metres;
- 12 metres at 1.1 g/t from 101 metres, including 2 metres at 3.5 g/t from 106 metres;
- 1 metre at 8.78 g/t from 98 metres.
Mulga Bill forms part of the Side Well project, a multi-prospect gold camp where GBR recently embarked on a 97-hole, 10,361-metre aircore drilling program.
Results from the first 25 holes came in just a few weeks ago, focused on gold at the Flagpole prospect. Today’s batch of assays contain more results from Flagpole, as well as findings from the Loaded Dog target and the ground surrounding Mulga Bill.
Side Well Gold Project and prospects.
With fresh results in hand, GBR managing director Andrew Paterson said the company had received assays for all 46 aircore holes drilled in March.
“The program is now complete, and we expect to see results from the last 18 holes in May,” he continued.
RC work to follow
Interestingly, the latest aircore findings also show there’s potential for up-dip extensions to Mulga Bill’s high-grade gold veins intersected during reverse circulation (RC) drilling.
“The new results highlight the potential for west-dipping high-grade veins to extend up-dip to the east, closer to surface in an area which has had little drilling to date,” Paterson explained.
“We use aircore drilling to look for alteration, pathfinder anomalism and bottom-of-hole gold anomalism, so results like these are strong indicators of gold potential in the fresh rock at depth.
“We’ll continue testing this area with RC holes within the next few weeks.”
The RC rig is currently spinning at Mulga Bill North, executing a campaign to test primary mineralisation across the main target area.
However, with more gold upside to the east, GBR is eager to chase the aircore program with additional exploration.
