Great Boulder Resources Ltd (ASX:GBR) is looking at a suite of new targets at the Side Well Gold Project’s Ironbark prospect in WA just days after it resumed an aircore campaign.
A recent sub-audio magnetics (SAM) survey — executed over a 2-kilometre zone at the heart of Ironbark’s 87,000-ounce gold deposit — hints there’s potential for strike extensions to Ironbark’s northeast.
Further afield, geologists are also honing in on a new electromagnetic conductor that’s yet to see a drill or geochemistry test.
While it’s still early days, the program firms up GBR’s direction as it plans an aircore program to test high-priority targets.
The rig is currently live at the Ironbark South target as the explorer awaits its first batch of diamond core assays.
GBR’s recent SAM survey covered a small portion of the 14-kilometre Ironbark corridor.
Closing in on conductors
Great Boulder managing director Andrew Paterson said the SAM survey — the first of its kind at Side Well — had supplied plenty of useful data as the company closed in on its best drill targets.
“The conductivity data shows Ironbark mineralisation sits in a resistive zone adjacent to a linear conductor which is probably a shear zone,” he explained.
“The images also confirm our theory that Ironbark is offset to the north by a cross-cutting fault, with potential for strike extensions to the northeast.
“Secondly, we have identified an unexplained and untested conductor northeast of Ironbark that may be caused by sulphides. We plan to test that with a small aircore program in the near future.
The MD went on to say that the data highlighted an interesting deformation in the shear south of Ironbark, where conductive trends bend from north-northeast to a north-northwest strike orientation.
“That’s the area we’re currently testing with aircore drilling, so we’re looking forward to seeing the results from that program,” he concluded.
More to come
Great Boulder plans to hit the ground running with additional aircore and auger geochemistry work, designed to test targets to Ironbark’s north and northeast.
And while the first batch of diamond assays expected shortly, the explorer cautions results for the fifth and final hole aren’t expected to reach its desk until late this month or early next.
Once aircore work wraps up at Mulga Bill, the rig will mobilise to Mulga Bill North — another high-priority target in the Side Well portfolio.
